Bamboo: A Green Hope for Addressing the Climate Crisis - dasso Presents at COP29

In Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, the 29th United Nations Climate Conference is being held in full swing. Representatives from countries around the world and various organizations have gathered together to discuss effective strategies for addressing global climate change. At this international event, the world's leading green bamboo enterprise, dasso, has been invited for the third time and has brought its innovative bamboo carbon sequestration concept and fruitful international cooperation achievements to showcase its outstanding contributions to addressing the climate crisis.

Warnings from the Himalayas: Melting ice and snow to see the global climate crisis

On November 19, 2024, in the Biosphere3 of the Conference, Larry Lin, founder of dasso, shared the serious challenges posed by climate warming in an emotional speech. He said the contrasting images of the Himalayas melting over the past 80 years, made him feel the urgency of the climate crisis. Larry Lin said: "This change is shocking and prompts us to think that humanity must take concrete actions to jointly tackle this serious challenge."

Bamboo, as a fast growing green resource without repeated planting, has a carbon sequestration capacity of 13.61 tons per hectare, far exceeding the amount of forest carbon sequestration, and is the preferred material to replace wood and reduce carbon emissions. Over the past 31 years, dasso has always been committed to the research and development and promotion of bamboo, and has continuously promoted the global green development process through practical actions.

Join hands with international partners to promote the globalization of bamboo

In the 20th event, dasso joined hands with a number of international partners to demonstrate the successful practice of bamboo in the global market:

  • Martin, partner of Finnish firm PES-Architects, demonstrates the unique appeal of bamboo in modern theatre design. He emphasized that in the theater project with Dassault, the team successfully incorporated the multiple benefits of bamboo into the design, significantly enhancing the overall quality of the building. Bamboo is skillfully processed and can be converted into a variety of applications such as floors, barriers, sound-absorbing panels, which not only meet the diversified aesthetic needs, but also add extraordinary charm to the interior space of the theater with its natural texture and warm tone. In addition, bamboo's superior acoustic properties greatly optimize the audience's hearing experience, while its durability and stability make bamboo the material of choice for high-occupancy venues such as theaters.

  • Iranian distributor Behzad highlighted that through close cooperation with Exiss, its team has successfully implemented several bamboo facade and terrace projects in Tehran and the northern region. In Iran, a country with a changeable climate, bamboo has shown excellent durability in harsh environments such as extreme temperature differences, drought and strong winds. Recognizing the green and sustainable properties of bamboo, Behazd called for the promotion of bamboo cultivation in Iran to combat desertification and contribute to Iran's sustainable development.

  • Barbarji, the representative of the dasso Middle East branch, stressed that dasso's bamboo is a sustainable solution for the extreme climatic conditions in the region. Projects such as the Six Senses Palm Hotel in Dubai and the Natural History Museum in ABU Dhabi have used bamboo to demonstrate its adaptability and aesthetics. With the continuous strengthening of green policies, the demand for bamboo in the Middle East and North Africa region is bound to surge, thus promoting sustainable development.

Through these global cooperation cases, dasso has shown the world the diversified application and broad prospects of bamboo, and further promoted its international development.

China Pavilion theme activity: Exploring the Future of carbon sinks in bamboo forests

On the afternoon of November 20, 2024, Larry Lin was invited to attend the theme event "Green Value Chain Empowerment, Promoting Green Economic and Social Transformation" at the China Pavilion. In this dialogue of global experts, he put forward a number of practical suggestions on the practical application and future development direction of bamboo forest carbon sink. These recommendations cover a wide range of application scenarios and policy advocacy for bamboo in carbon sink management, green economy transition.

At the roundtable discussion on bamboo carbon sequestration, the core value of bamboo carbon sequestration and its far-reaching impact on the social and economic environment were deeply analyzed. It was pointed out that bamboo has become the core driving force of green economy due to its efficient carbon sequestration, rapid growth and wide application. Through scientific planning and policy support, the construction of a green industrial chain can promote the sustainable utilization of bamboo, reduce carbon emissions, promote the development of related industries, inject new impetus into economic growth, and help to address climate change and achieve sustainable development goals.

Bamboo: Green hope for global climate governance

In the face of the severe challenge of climate change, it has become the common goal of all countries in the world to clarify the path of carbon neutrality and promote low-carbon technological innovation. With bamboo as the core, dasso provides efficient, low-carbon and sustainable development solutions for the world. The appearance at the United Nations Climate Conference not only demonstrated dasso's leading position in the field of green bamboo, but also shared its valuable experience in carbon sinks and low-carbon practices with the world.

Looking ahead, dasso will continue to deepen international cooperation to promote green bamboo to every corner of the world. We firmly believe that on the road to tackling the climate crisis and promoting sustainable development, bamboo will become our most valuable green hope.
