2026 Digital With Purpose (DWP) Global Summit

From June 26–27, 2026, the Digital With Purpose (DWP) Global Summit, hosted by the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI), was held in Shenzhen. Under the theme "Building Consensus, Dialogue & Connection – Digital Technologies Enabling a Sustainable Future," the summit brought together government agencies, international organizations, global city alliances, and leading industry players from China, Europe, the UAE, and multiple Asia-Pacific countries. Key outcomes were achieved across five core areas: green supply chains, low-carbon AI computing, smart cities, digital education, and cross-border digital governance.

I. Dubai SEE HOLDING – Real Estate Development Cooperation Intent

During the summit, we held in-depth talks with Mr. Fadi Jamal Alfris, CEO of SEE Environment (Sustainability), and Mr. Amjad Hariz, CEO of SEE Developers (Real Estate). Both sides reviewed past collaboration foundations, aligned on current project cooperation opportunities, and agreed to schedule an in-person follow-up meeting in July – either our visit to Dubai or their visit to our company – to refine implementation plans for two major projects.

II. Potential Cooperation – Bamboo Substitution in Telecom Infrastructure

Industry representatives including Ms. Maria João Rodrigues, Chair of Reimagining Europe Think Tank and Senior Advisor to the President of the European Council; Mr. Hou Dingyi, ESG Strategy Operations Director at Alibaba; and Mr. Chen Haijun, Chief Green Transformation Strategy Officer at Huawei, proposed the use of bamboo as a substitute for conventional materials in telecom infrastructure such as communication base stations (including support pillars, etc.). Mr. Chen Haijun plans to visit our company (Dazhuang) in October this year.

III. GeSI & UNDP – Carbon Sink Opportunities, and Cooperation Prospects with Portuguese Cities and School Campuses

We connected with Ms. Veerle Vandeweerd, Executive Director of GeSI's Digital Education Impact Alliance (DEFIA) and former Director of the UNDP Energy Bureau. She noted that in Kenya, where bamboo species are clump-forming, bamboo plantations have been developed in recent years, with local factories mainly producing bamboo skewers. They had previously exchanged ideas with the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) in China. There are also bamboo plantations in Portugal, and they hope to work with us to jointly explore and advance carbon sink projects. 

Prof. Patrícia Pereira da Silva, Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra (Portugal), expressed interest in using bamboo materials for university campus buildings.

We also met Mr. Ricardo Rio, GeSI's Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Strategic Partnerships, and former Mayor of Braga (Portugal), opening a channel for cooperation in public spaces in the city of Braga.

IV. Promotion Strategy and Unlocking Business Opportunities

Mr. Luis Neves, CEO of GeSI, has a relative working as a producer at a US film production company in the Netherlands. We plan to compile and summarize bamboo's physical and mechanical properties, application scenarios, and carbon sequestration data (comparing bamboo with wood, plastic, cement, steel, aluminum, etc.), then produce videos and white papers. These will be promoted through multiple channels, including at COP31 (to be held in Turkey in November), where GeSI will invite telecom companies to explore business opportunities.
